Cook for Life Initiative

Recently there has been strong growth in the foodservice and restaurant industries, with the trend expected to continue in the coming years. In 2017-18, South Brooklyn Community High School (SBCHS) and Good Shepherd Services will work collaboratively to implement the Cook for Life initiative. The initiative will utilize a curriculum that directly responds to employer needs and includes a culinary certification and pathway into employment in the culinary arts field. The Cook for Life initiative will provide a critical workforce development program for SBCHS students that will enable them to develop 21st century skills needed to achieve success in the workplace.
